Xochilt Diaz

Xochilt Diaz was born in San Salvador, El Salvador where she found many opportunities to achieve big goals, like earning a degree in communications and public relations. She emigrated to the United States, to Virginia, in 2014.

In 2017 she founded the business Xochicalli LLC, a event planning company specializing in floral design. She also opened a store in Crozet that serves the Latino community. Then, in 2020, during the pandemic, she opened her new business XD Event Planning & Deco.

In 2015 she became part of the local Spanish language radio team at 94.7 FM, CLUB DEL SABOR (Flavor Club), as an announcer. She focused on bringing information and musical entertainment to all listeners. From 2017 until 2020, she ran her own program called EN VIVO CON LA CONEJITA (Live with the bunny) every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The show’s goal was to conduct interviews on topics of interest to the Latino community, and also report current news from the counties around Charlottesville. The show also worked closely with local organizations to help with their community programs.

In 2020, she became part of the new radio Spanish project, wxtj.fm for University of Virginia students, 100.1 FM. The project’s purpose was to support young university students to participate more in the Latino community, give them the opportunity to promote their activities and learn more about the community’s culture, customs and needs. The show featured interviews with professionals on a variety of topics, like education, health, mental and family issues every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It also promoted Latino businesses, giving them the opportunity to participate in supporting a project called EL PODER LATINO CVILLE (Latino Power Cville).

Xochilt loves music, and everything about the Latino culture. She enjoys cooking and has worked as a sous chef in catering since 2015. She has been able to enjoy her job as a sous chef during the week, and then spend the weekends dedicated to her passions, like event planning and floral design, announcing for her Latino community and also assisting at her church with her family where she shares special moments with her daughter, who drives her to continue dreaming and fulfilling her professional goals
