This month is Global Volunteer Month and there are many opportunities to volunteer in our community. ReImagine CVA wants to continue uplifting Black led organizations in our community where volunteers are always needed. We have an opportunity to support these amazing organizations that work every day to make our Charlottesville community a better place for everyone by spotlighting two organizations this month. Organizations such as Abundant Life Ministries and HER SPORTS are just a couple of local Black led organizations that are always looking for support.
Abundant Life Ministries believes in in whole-family, holistic ministry, with incentive-based programming that spans from kindergarten to senior citizens. They have three focus areas which are spiritual development, the belief everyone is made in God’s image and has worth and dignity with a strong emphasis on the relationship between parents, children, and residents of the Prospect Neighborhood; Academic support, programs centered around tutoring and mentoring for children from elementary to high school; and Economic empowerment, through a financial literacy course they empower neighbors to manage personal finances and gain self-sufficiency. HER SPORTS looks to address disparities and help young girls overcome obstacles and break down barriers that will forge new pathways for greater engagement in girl sports. They hope to provide safe, effective, and enjoyable sport experiences by designing clinics, trainings, and webinars base on the developmental needs of female athletes. HER SPORTS also provides coaches with research-based training and resources in building a strong foundation in coaching female athletes.

ReImagineCVA.org, a partnership between the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, United Way of Greater Charlottesville, and other local organizations, was created to help community members find ways to be meaningfully engaged in their community. ReImagineCVA.org drives volunteers to where they are needed and connects donors to the causes and initiatives that need their support.
